Galleria Marchetti’s Top Picks to Entertain Your Chicago Tradeshow and Conference Guests
Chicago is one of the most fulfilling cities on the planet to do business. This is our home, full of amazing people with compelling stories from all walks of life. Many of them are entrepreneurs and small business owners whose companies (like our family’s) have assumed a distinct status in the local business community and have subsequently become synonymous with it.
When guests first come to Chicago on business, they may feel a little overwhelmed by the sheer expanse of it. There are so many options that it can be difficult to decide where to start. Fortunately, we’ve picked out a handful of our favorite local spots to help give you some direction. Our location downtown gives us great access to three vibrant neighborhoods. Here’s a summary of local attractions we recommend to visitors.
Fill up in River West
Galleria Marchetti is in the immediate vicinity of several noteworthy restaurants and cultural spots. One block south of us at the intersection of Grand, Halsted and Milwaukee Avenues, you’ll find three of our top picks. Piccolo Sogno is a great Italian restaurant with a beautiful outdoor patio. If you’re thirsty, hop on over to Emmit’s Irish Pub—a gorgeous neighborhood pub that was actually featured in the movie Ocean’s Eleven. Finally, we suggest our closest neighbors at the Dawson. It’s a popular hangout with a young, hip crowd and features more fantastic food and drinks.
Loop back to the West Loop
Less than a half mile south of our River West home is the West Loop neighborhood, widely considered to be one of the most popular and fastest growing neighborhoods in the city. With so many great restaurants and hangouts, it’s easy to see why. There’s Parlor Pizza Bar with Neapolitan-inspired pies baked in traditional ovens. Bar Siena is a very casual Italian-style bar atmosphere that’s perfect for robust conversation. The nearby Nellcote Restaurant offers a mix of elegance, opulence and accessibility to more fantastic Italian cuisine. But what if you’re in the mood for something different? You can always check out Momotaro Restaurant for fine Japanese fare or nearby Leña Brava for unbelievable seafood by celebrity chef Rick Bayless.
Take a look at Lincoln Park
Another booming neighborhood that’s very popular with a young and affluent crowd is Lincoln Park. The appropriately named NEWCITY is a mixed-use development with parking, movie theaters, a bowling alley, and more fantastic restaurants and bars such as Earl’s and Yard House. And brace yourself—there is even an indoor skydiving venue right across the street! Of course, if you’re looking for something a little more tranquil in your entertainment experience, the famous Steppenwolf Theater is also right nearby!
Our city is fertile ground for great business development, and it’s easy to see why it has cultivated such an allure for entrepreneurship and tourism. With such a wide selection of attractions, from restaurants and shopping centers to museums and cultural spots, people from all over the world will surely continue to come here to share new ideas and experience what our city has to offer.
