A Seasonal Spotlight on Galleria Marchetti’s Wedding Venues

Posted by admin in La Pergola at Galleria Marchetti, The Pavilion at Galleria Marchetti, Weddings 07 Jul 2017

Galleria Marchetti is an exquisite and one-of-a-kind property specializing in hosting fabulous weddings and special events. Over our almost 40-year history, the wedding planning professionals here at Galleria Marchetti have found ways to accommodate beautiful wedding celebrations for every season.

Whatever time of year you’re looking to tie the knot, you can be sure that the wedding planning professionals at Galleria Marchetti have an event venue that suits the season and your occasion. With five unique spaces that can be combined to create either two distinct event venues or one large event venue, here’s a quick look at how our wedding venues incorporate the seasons into any elegant wedding atmosphere.

The Pavilion at Galleria Marchetti

The Pavilion at Galleria Marchetti (the larger of the two venues) is comprised of three spaces: Il Cortile dell’Est (The East Courtyard), La Sala Montecatinese (The Montecatini Room), and La Piazza Grande (The Grand Square) which contains Il Padiglione (The Pavilion, our state-of-the-art German-engineered tent), Il Annesso d’Agustin (Agustin’s Annex), and Il Terrazzo d’Agustin (Agustin’s Terrace).

The Pavilion at Galleria Marchetti is associated mostly with spring, summer, and fall weddings because of the spectacular outdoor East Courtyard. But it is just as stunning and functional during the winter. The East Courtyard is visible from the tented Pavilion and gets fully decked out with holiday lighting in the winter. It can be quite an enchanting experience to look out upon the illuminated winter landscape of the East Courtyard from the comfort of the enclosed and heated Pavilion.

During cold or inclement days in the spring, summer, and fall, and almost always during the winter, The Pavilion is used not only as the main ballroom but also to host ceremonies. It makes the perfect back-up solution for hosting a ceremony during cold, hot, rainy, or snowy weather.

Ceremonies and cocktail hours are typically held in The East Courtyard when weather permits. The East Courtyard features countless flowering trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and an expansive lawn with a vine-covered wedding arbor. There is even a large retractable awning that ensures a portion of the East Courtyard can still be utilized for cocktailing during rain showers.

The heart and soul of our larger venue is La Piazza Grande (The Grand Square), a 70 foot by 140-foot outdoor area containing our tented Pavilion, Agustin’s Annex, and Agustin’s Terrace. The Pavilion, our largest room on the property, is a magnificent 5,750-square foot tented ballroom that can be utilized with the sides either open or closed. When the sides are closed, it features both heating and air conditioning, enabling it to be a very comfortable ballroom during the coldest and hottest days in Chicago.

To the south of the tented Pavilion is Agustin’s Terrace, a 1,500-square foot outdoor space with a stunning 130 foot ipe wood wall with built-in ipe benches, 72 linear feet of custom corten steel fire pits, and a giant custom-tiled wood burning pizza oven. Agustin’s Terrace is perfect for cocktail parties or for late night snacks such as authentic Neapolitan pizza cooked in the wood burning oven or good old-fashioned s’mores cooked over the massive fire pits.

Between the tented Pavilion and Agustin’s Terrace is Agustin’s Annex, a 10 foot by 115-foot enclosable awning structure that projects off of the south end of the Pavilion and that can be used to extend the footprint of The Pavilion by 1,150 square feet when fully enclosed. When the retractable roof of Agustin’s Annex is open and the side walls are up, it extends Agustin’s Terrace by 1,150 square feet.

Located in the main building of Galleria Marchetti and connected to The Pavilion by a luxurious 20 foot hallway of ipe walls and travertine flooring, The Montecatini Room is a 3,000-square foot pre-function room named for the town in which Yolanda Marchetti (wife of Como Inn founder Giuseppe Marchetti and mother of Galleria Marchetti founder Joe Marchetti) grew up. The room is a warm, wide open space with an exposed bow truss ceiling, gorgeous travertine door mouldings, and beautiful rustic red travertine flooring. The restrooms for The Pavilion at Galleria Marchetti are located in the Montecatini Room, along with the bridal suite and the coatroom.

In favorable weather, it functions as lobby space complete with cocktail tables and restrooms. But when the weather is not conducive to utilizing The East Courtyard, the Montecatini Room takes over as the pre-function space for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before the main reception.

La Pergola at Galleria Marchetti is the smaller of the two venues and is comprised of two spaces: La Sala Lucchese (The Lucca Room), and La Piazza Turca (The Turkish Square) which contains La Pergola (The Pergola, our state-of-the-art Turkish tent with retractable roofs), Il Annesso (The Annex), and Il Terrazzo Marocchino (The Moroccan Terrace).

La Pergola at Galleria Marchetti is a three-season venue that hosts fabulous weddings in the spring, summer, and fall.

La Sala Lucchese

La Sala Lucchese (The Lucca Room) is named after the birthplace of Como Inn founder Giuseppe Marchetti. It is a charming Tuscan-inspired indoor room with real Italian plaster walls, gorgeous red and cream-striped travertine mouldings inspired by the Basilica of Santa Chiara in Assisi, and a stunning exposed kitchen that we call “La Cucina di Giuseppe” (Joe’s Kitchen). It is typically used for cocktail hours and for late night dining and dancing. But it can also be used as the ceremony or main dining space for couples who wish to have a more indoor feel to their celebration. Though La Piazza Turca is not available during the winter months, the Lucca Room can be used all year round as a one room wedding venue. It is a perfect setting for winter rehearsal dinners and pre and post-nuptial showers.

Directly to the west of the main building of Galleria Marchetti and connected to the Lucca Room by a hallway is La Piazza Turca, or the Turkish Square. It is home to La Pergola, The Annex, and The Moroccan Terrace. Inspired by the fact that La Pergola was imported from Istanbul, the Turkish Square is envisioned to be a square in Italy where a Turkish community has settled, combining elements of both Italian and Ottoman culture.

The three walls of the Turkish Square that surround The Pergola are decorated with vines, lights, carved Moroccan wood panels, Tadelakt (authentic Moroccan plaster) and beautiful Turkish ceramic tiles from Iznik. The entire square is home to many flowering trees, shrubs, and potted flowering plants.

Ceremonies in this venue are typically held under La Pergola, our smaller but even more sophisticated 2,180 square foot tent-like structure. With motorized retractable roofs and sides, La Pergola can be configured to be an open space or an enclosed space with either heating and air-conditioning. The Pergola is powder coated in a dark brown shade and features Turkish travertine flooring, brass Moroccan sconces, and built-in canopy lights. Following ceremonies held under La Pergola, guests typically head to the Lucca Room for a cocktail hour while La Pergola is reset for the reception portion of the wedding.

Connecting the main building of Galleria Marchetti and La Pergola is Il Annesso (The Annex). It is a 14 foot by 72 foot awning with a retractable roof. It can extend the width of La Pergola by 14 feet, which increases the square footage from 2,180 to 3,190. The Annex can be used as an extension of the Pergola ballroom, thus increasing the capacity for guest seating, or it can be utilized to place important event elements such as a bar, a place card table, a gift table, or food stations.

To the west of La Pergola is Il Terrazzo Marocchino, or the Moroccan Terrace. With bench seating, fire pits, and Moroccan fountains, it is yet another beautiful space that can be used for mingling and for hosting specialty food stations such as our flaming donut station or our s’mores station.
